Prince Ruffo - who was already busy promoting his park – did not need much convincing to accept Beningni's proposal and transform the Selva di Paliano into a fairytale set for the movie "Nothing Left to Do but to Cry" (1984), by Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi (for the first time both directors and actors), were shot. It was common knowledge that the Selva di Paliano was a fascinating and spellbinding place - for the natural beauty of the oasis and the amazing feats of its owner who had even constructed a railway. Ruffo travelled as far as Cuba to find some unique species of exotic birds that would be well suited to the natural habitat of the oasis. Over time the Selva di Paliano transformed itself into a dream landscape - an ideal set for movies.
