The fourteenth-century Belloluogo Tower is an ancient medieval monument used as the residence of Maria d'Enghien, countess of Lecce and Queen of Naples. An example of Angevin military architecture is cylindrical in shape and with a moat still full of water. The tower is located in a park on the outskirts of the city next to the cemetery. The fifteenth-century Torre del Parco was instead the suburban residence of the Count Orsini del Balzo. Circular in shape the structure has a thick and mighty wall embraced by a moat. The entrance was protected by a drawbridge. The Belloluogo Tower is owned by the Municipality of Lecce and at the moment it is not open to visitors, while the Torre del Parco is privately owned and only on rare occasions is it open to the public, while it is usually a reserved facility for receptions and ceremonies.
