Castello di Conversano

Four corners facing the cardinal points and as many towers. The castle of Conversano is a grandiose trapezoidal plan, a structure that presents its current appearance only after numerous renovations that saw it pass from a defensive fortress to a sumptuous stately home. Inside, the reception rooms are beautifully displayed, where the accounts received guests and the magnificent wedding chamber of Count Giangirolamo according to Acquaviva d'Aragona. Instead, the windows and balconies of the façade overlooking piazza Castello show the aesthetic taste in vogue in the nineteenth century, the final act of a long process of architectural transformation. Casket of the Municipal Art Gallery, the manor houses the seventeenth-century paintings of the cycle "La Gerusalemme Liberata" by Paolo Finoglio.
