The Nicolaiano Museum of Bari was inaugurated in 2010 in the historic city center, immediately after the Arco del lungomare that leads to the Basilica of San Nicola. In the rooms it tells the centuries-old history of the Basilica, an uninterrupted destination of pilgrimages from all over the world, through finds related to the beloved saint and the historical and artistic events of the city over the centuries, starting from the Byzantine era. Epigraphs, parchments and precious illuminated manuscripts are displayed alongside enamels, coats of arms, reliquaries, chalices and various silver artefacts, paintings and vestments. There are three exhibition halls: Sala Angelo Docente, Sala Ruggero II, and Sala Diavolo in bosco, together with the corridor of the windows and the space for temporary exhibitions.
