The Ettore Pomarici Santomasi Museum is located in the eponymous 17th century palace in the heart of the historic center of Gravina in Puglia. On the ground floor the Crypt of the rock church of San Vito Vecchio has been masterfully reconstructed, whose walls are decorated with Byzantine frescoes dating from the late 1100s to the early 1200s, an exhibition of vintage family clothes made between the 1600s and the 1800s, two carriages (Gala Landau of 1780 and a Calèche of the 1800s), a section of majolica from Castelli. On the first floor are the Historical Archive, with rare and valuable documents, the Library with 50,000 volumes including some from the sixteenth century, some volumes from the Encyclopedia of Diderot and D'Alembert. Also on the first floor is the sumptuous master apartment with furnishings from the 1700s. On the second floor are the Archaeological State exhibit and finds from the Gravina area from the ninth to the third century BC, the Numismatic section with coins from the fifth century BC to the 1800, the Weapons and Uniforms section, from the Bourbon period to the 2nd World War, the Picture Gallery with paintings by Dematteis, Miglionico and paintings belonging to the Neapolitan seventeenth century, the exhibition celebrating Pope Benedict thirteenth, born in Gravina.
