Built on a previous Angevin fortress, the Castello di Copertino is one of the most impressive defensive structures of the Salento area. To welcome is the magnificence of the Renaissance portal, while precious treasures of history are the chapel of San Marco frescoed by Gianserio Strafella, Mannerist painter originally from Copertino, and the chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena. Designed by Evangelista Menga, architect of the emperor Charles V, the castle today adheres to the 'Cassio - Ten museums to learn about Italian heritage' project. The numerous subsidies created in collaboration with the Italian Union of the Blind, the State Institute for the Deaf in Rome, the National Federation of Pro Blind Institutions, allow us to learn about some works through touch. To enrich the available material is an audio and video apparatus, with subtitled movies, printed texts, and facilitated texts.
