Renato Sacerdoti, one of the founders and president of AS Roma Renato Sacerdoti, born in Rome on 20 October 1891, known as Il Banchiere di Testaccio, was one of the founders of the Rome Sports Association, guaranteeing in 1927, together with Pietro Crostarosa, the sums of money to pay off debts and strengthen the new team. It was under his presidency that Campo Testaccio, the historic structure of the Giallorossi team, was built. Roma in the 1930s will remain the strongest team the club has ever had for almost half a century. A Jew, and also a first-hour fascist, he took part in the march on Rome, but in 1935, under a pretext, he was sent to prison. During the war he escaped deportation disguising himself as a priest and taking refuge in a convent. After the Second World War, he was called back to the presidency of Rome and his subsequent years of presidency restored solidity to society. After leaving the presidency in 1958, he remained in the Giallorossi leadership until 1967. He died on 13 October 1971 at the age of 79.
