The Jewish Cemetery of Finale Emilia was restored in 2015. More than 50 gravestones covering the period up to 1966 have been recovered. For the first time they have all been catalogued and translated, opening a glimpse of the important Jewish community in the city of Modena. The cemetery is one of the oldest and most evocative in Emilia Romagna. The oldest gravestones are engraved in Hebrew, while the others bear inscriptions in Italian or with bilingual inscriptions. The oldest tombstone dates back to 1585.
