  Open House Roma

The Galileo Galilei of Rome, a secondary school of secondary education, was established in 1918 and is one of the oldest technical-industrial training schools. The first Board of Directors was chaired by Guglielmo Marconi who in 1920 announced a public competition for the construction of the building which was won by the project presented by the architect Piacentini. The first jobs were the construction of workshops and laboratories; later, in 1924-1925, due to space requirements but also due to cost savings, the original design of the façade on Via Conte Verde was modified and the fourth floor was added. In 1928, due to financial difficulties, the institute came under the guidance of engineer Tomassetti, a professor at the Faculty of Engineering in Rome. The inauguration took place in 1933. The great hall was decorated by the artist Cambellotti.
