  Open House Roma

Born as the first Carmelite recluse for lay people, then transformed into a monastery, the seventeenth-century palace of the Good Shepherd has long been the exemplary place of female subordination. After almost twenty years of negotiations and occupation by the historical movements of Roman feminism, in 2001, it became the headquarters of the International Women's House. The complex still preserves spaces and places of the ancient past, such as the prison cells, which now welcome new social and cultural functions at the service of the female world. Visits by Fabiana Dantinelli.
