From Casa Littoria to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the building of the Palazzo della Farnesina played a significant role in the twentieth-century Italian architectural panorama: from the critical debate that, from the 1930s, accompanied the project and the execution of the works, until the intervention of the artists, including Cascella, Consagra, Scialoja and Pomodoro, who, between the fifties and sixties, redesigned the interiors. Since 2001 the building has housed the Farnesina Collection, a contemporary art collection of the Ministry with works, among others, by Accardi, Burri, Dorazio, Kounellis, Pistoletto and Vedova.
