The Villino, designed as a home and studio for the famous sculptor Ettore Ximenes (Palermo 1855 -Rome 1926), is located in Piazza Galeno. It was built in the early 1900s, designed by Leonardo Paterna Baldizzi and Ximenes, a significant example of Liberty architecture in Rome. The facades of the building and the different interiors are characterized by rich and imaginative decorations, many of which are executed by Ximenes himself. The Dining Room preserves original furnishings with refined details and refined executive techniques, in line with the modernist currents, which respond to the concept of functionality of the work of art. Il Villino was a place of constant attendance in the political and cultural world of Rome. In 1952 the Villino was sold to the Teresian Institution, becoming from then on an active center for education and cultural promotion, and home to a university college.
