Chanukkah is the Hebrew name of the candelabra that lights up to celebrate the feast of Chanukkah. It consists of eight arms plus the shammash, the servant useful for lighting the candles that light up one a day until the holiday runs out. Artists, architects and designers have grasped in this ritual object, especially after the Shoah, the possibility of the rebirth of light, of a bridge between the religious world and not, of a dialogue between different faiths in the name of mutual knowledge. This exhibition was born in Casale Monferrato and arrives in Matera projecting a new light, retroactive on the past but also on the Jewish presence in South Italy, and knows how to give hope for the future. On display works by Gabriele Levy alongside works by masters such as Mondino and Pomodoro, Luzzatti and Gerstein.
