  Kosher Life

The land was purchased in 1711 by the Jewish community of the city, is overlooking the sea so that over the centuries some stones, then recovered, fell from above. Situated between Mount Cardeto and the Capuchin Hill, it is one of the most evocative places in the city and one of the most beautiful Jewish cemeteries. The lawn is tilted, as tradition dictates, gently towards Jerusalem and all the stones have inscriptions facing east. For centuries the lawn has followed the seasons with its blooms of wild and precious plants. Narcissus greets spring and orchids the peak of the summer season, while other flowers welcome autumn and then fall asleep in winter. In a succession of colours and scents, in this magical place, a metaphor for life is recreated.
