EMBED CODE

We are at the back of the old fish market still active and the market, a market of fruits, vegetables, rich in scents, colors and full every day of tourists. Well, surely you will be distracted by so many noises, so many colors, but if you raise your eyes at some point you will find the plate of a street: via Gisira, but who was this Gisira? You may wonder, it wasn't anyone who was "something", it was the Arab name of a tax, the tax that was applied, first by the Arabs and then by the Normans, to the Jews to allow them to worship and build synagogues. Currently via Gisira is one of the many streets of the historic center but for us it is something more, it is a further testimony of a Giudecca that was.
