  Notes of art in Lombardy

The former Convent of the Gerolamini, now the municipal seat, overlooking the central Piazza Garibaldi and flanked by the baroque parish dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, is the cornerstone of the civil and religious life of Piadena. Built in the seventeenth century on the Renaissance model of the Tuscan monastery of S. Sigismondo, despite the different uses to which it was intended after its suppression, preserves the original harmony intact. A large square cloister supported by round arches on Tuscan columns encloses a silent courtyard garden. The internal spaces, in addition to the municipal offices, house the rooms of the Platina Archaeological Museum and some parish environments.
