  Notes of art in Lombardy

Located in the lower countryside of Cremona, Castelponzone is a small village with a Renaissance flavor gathered around a characteristic arcaded street, via Mazzini, where once opened taverns, shops and craft shops. The town, today counted among the "most beautiful villages in Italy", was an ancient walled village in the fifteenth century, of which it maintains the urban layout with regular blocks and remains of the southern gateway, with the pusterla bearing the signs of a drawbridge. In the last two centuries the center was particularly known for the cultivation of hemp, from which the skilled local artisans made ropes that were also exported beyond the Alps and today a museum set up in the country documents this ancient craft.
