  Notes of art in Lombardy

The small and elegant Church of S. Margherita and Pelagia is considered one of the best examples of Cremonese Mannerism. Its construction, commissioned by the prior Marco Gerolamo Vida, was built between 1542 and 1552 by the architect Giulio Campi, who with the contribution of his brother Antonio also carries out the fresco decorations that completely cover the internal surfaces of the temple. simple and elegant, it is played on the strong chromatic contrast between the red of the terracotta and the white of the stone that gives rhythm to the façade, while the single nave interior is distinguished by the stylistic and compositional uniformity of the decorative apparatus that gives an effect of great harmony to the whole.
