The fort of Oga is located at an altitude of about 1730 meters above sea level in a place that was identified with the toponym of Dossaccio. Expected already in the first years of the '900, initially at the Motte di Oga, it was then built between 1908 and 1914 to defend the main Alpine passes thinking about a possible conflict with Austria and a possible enemy crossing from near Switzerland. From this dominant position Bormio could be easily beaten all the main access routes to the Alta Valtellina, from the Foscagno to the valleys of Fraele, from the Stelvio-Umbrail, to the paths to the valleys of the Valfurva.
