Between an abbot and a captain of Fortune, a philosopher pops up in Pigneto too, one of the most famous of his time. Born in Apamea around 135 before Christ, probably from a noble family. Posidonius went to Athens, where he was a pupil of the stoic school of Panaetius, of which he was a pupil and sequencer. He moved to Rhodes, which at the time was a thriving mercantile and cultural centre and of which he became a citizen, always in this city he founded his school, which was also attended by Cicero and Pompey who dedicated a historical monograph.
