  Streets of Rome

This little street is dedicated to a military, politician and Roman historian of the second century before Christ.  He began his military career under Scipio African minor, in the war in Spain. He later distinguished himself in the Battle of Muthul, during which faced an attack by Bomilcare and organized the capture or injury of most of the Numìdici war elephants. In 105, Christ was elected Senior Consul: his main initiatives were the military discipline and the introduction of a better troop training system. Convicted of corruption unjustly, he retired to private life first to Mytilene and then to Smyrna where Rufus wrote his autobiography and a History of Rome in the Greek language.
