This little street in Via dei Parioli is dedicated to the Italian scientist, literate and diplomat. Belonging to a Florentine aristocracy family, he was born in Rome, where his father Horace was prefect of the Pontifical Couriers. He studied at the Collegio Romano, a Jesuit seminary, and later at the University of Pisa, where he was a pupil of Vincenzo Viviani and Marcello Malpighi. Secretary of Cardinal Leopoldo de ' Medici, in 1660 he was appointed secretary of the Accademia del Cimento. He also participated in the Acaddemia della Crusca and the Accademia degli Arcadii under the name of Lindoro Elateo.
