This important Rome street is dedicated to the fifteenhunderseventh century Pope of the Catholic Church.  Gregory the Seventh was the most important among the popes who in the 11th century put in place a profound reform of the Church, but is best known for the role played in the investiture struggle, which placed him in contrast with the Emperor Henry the Forth. The cult rendered him since the death was ratified in 1606 by Pope Paul Quintus, who proclaimed holiness. The liturgical memory is May 25th. Gregory the Seventh is famous for having torn the empire of universal power, emanating the Dictatus Pape.
