  Streets of Rome

Nothing ethnic in the toponym of this street that owes its name to the religious congregation of St. Philip Neri who in 1638 commissioned to Borromini the realization of the oratory, next to the Church of the order, Santa Maria in Vallicella also called the Chiesa Nuova. The result was a great masterpiece. The exterior façade is magnificent, with alternating concave and convex lines typical of the Borrominin style. And to think that the oratory was built in just two years (1638-40), using visible pink bricks, in contrast to the adjoining large new church in white travertine.
