The name for the most plausible hypothesis descends from the eel represented in the coat of arms Orsini, family owned in the area of some turreted houses built around the big tower called « Arpacata » (name of unknown origin) already since the twelfth century; the other hypothesis derives the name from the Visconti's biscion of the sign of a hotel owned or managed by people of Milan.
