Carla Capponi is a symbol of Roman resistance. Since September 8, 1943 she has worked to assist the wounded at Porta San Paolo. In the spring of 1944 she leads to several attacks against the occupants, including that against the film Barberini, another in front of the prison of Regina Celi, and the sadly famous of via Rasella against a contingent of the German army. The action was then taken by the Nazis under the guise of the fierce massacre of the Ardeatine massacre. Recognized partisan fighter with the rank of captain, she was decorated with gold medal at the military value for having participated, it reads in the motivation, « to the most heroic feats, in the hunt without neighborhood, that his vanguard group gave to the enemy nestled in the inhabited circle of the city of Rome ».
