  Famous people of Rome

On the morning of October 25, 1867, the day in which Garibaldi took Monterotondo during the third expedition to liberate Rome, about forty patriots, of which 25 Romans, gathered in Via Della Lungaretta 97, in the Roman quarter of Trastèvere, in the seat of wool laboratory of Giulio Ajani, to decide on what to do. At 12:30 pm, a patrol of Zouaves arrived from Via del Moro attacked the seat of the wool laboratory. The conspirators tried to resist the fire. In a short time, however, the Pontifical troops had the best and were able to make their way inside the building. Some conspirators managed to flee, while others were captured. Under fire were killed nine people, including Giuditta Tavani Arquati, pregnant with the fourth child, the husband and their young son.
