Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is one of the most celebrated artists in the world, drawing lifeblood from every experience, he works in Rome since 1592 under the protection of influential characters thanks to which he is welcomed in the salons of the nobility and in charge of painting Important canvases, such as those of Saint Louis of the French and Santa Maria del Popolo. On the night of 28 May 1606 a discussion with Tal Ranuccio Tommasoi ends in tragedy. The two compete with knives, perhaps because of a woman, both of whom are enamored. Caravaggio kills the man. Sentenced to decapitation runs south thanks to the protection of the column family. In July 1610 he was acquitted of the accusations and, after being pardoned by Paolo Quinto, decided to come back to Rome. The fate is cruel and the artist dies in Porto Ercole because of a disease.
