As a footballer he made his debut in Rome, but binds his name above all to Catanzaro football team of which, between 1976 and 1982, becomes the player with most appearances in Serie A. It is noted as a coach, winning two promotions with Cagliari (from the series C to Serie A) between 1988 and 1991 , then he moves to Naples where he obtains a UEFA qualification in 1992 . Between 1993 and 1997 he trains Fiorentina, with whom he obtains a promotion in Serie A, an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup. In 1997 he moves to Spain, where he remains until 2000, coaching Valencia and Atlético Madrid, before moving to Chelsea where he remains for four seasons, in 2007 he comes back to Italy, where he trained Parma, Juventus, Roma and Inter, obtaining two second positions with Juventus and Rome. From 2012 to 2014 he coaches Monaco in France, where he wins the Ligue and finishes second in Ligue . After a period as coach of Greece he comes back to England to Leicester City and there he wins the Premier League in 2016. Thanks of this success, he obtains the FIFA's award as coach of the year as well as the nickname of King Claudio.
